This place doesn't look that appealing from the outside, but dont get fool and try this place. The breakfast burritos here are truly the best, one of the breakfast burritos called "The Suicide" is the best one, filled with cheese, eggs, hashbrowns, ham, bacon, sausage and salsa verde.

Really love the breakfast burritos here! Really good size and of great quality too! As you can see by the photos, I couldn’t wait to start eating it. Lol I would definitely check out this place. I’m going to start trying some of their other food options that they have there as well. By the way the burrito in the picture is called a “Suicide” it has bacon sausage and ham in it, is now one of my favorites!

You might think this is a burger join, it's somewhat is, but don't be fooled. They have a great breakfast food, too.I get their suicide burrito: sausage, ham and bacon, ask for extra green sauce. Then coffee with it. It depends what time you get here, it can get packed. However, their customer service is great. Definitely a breakfast spot that you should try.

Had a wet grilled chicken burrito. Was good flavor, but had big chunks of raw tomato in it which I found strange .

As always an excellent visit great staff. Whenever I'm in Buena Park I go there..Friendly atmosphere and its on the corner where I grew up as a child...

Good food, but pricey for what it is.

Was on the road and saw the sign for best breakfast burrito! Well I went rogue and a wet carne asada in verde sauce was the best and biggest I've had! Service was on par and can't wait to be in the area again!

First time here, heard about breakfast burritos and saw their sign claiming#1 breakfast burritos....got totally wrong order and they are hardly the best....bad food bad service

Such a variety of what to order. Hard to choose. Everything we've ordered has been very good.

So we came for the burrito one day, and it was good. Se decide to come back and this time tried the plates, which were really good. I highly recommend the green enchiladas

Love the breakfast burritos here! You know it's a local favorite when your community helpers are regulars! Friendly staff, quick food, plenty of seating. They keep it very clean here. Love this place.

I love this place and have gone here for years. The only suggestion I have is to put a little cash into the ceiling and the bathroom. Other than that I recommend Athenian's for great food and nice people.

Stopped by for breakfast on the advice of a friend. Had a breakfast burrito and coffee. Food was yummy and well portioned. Coffee was decent without being pretentious and free refills. The service was friendly for being essentially a fast food joint. Nice indoor/ outdoor dining areas as well.

Very very disappointed. Burger meat burnt, and cut in pieces. I said no onion tons of onion. Got a chicken salad as well chicken so salty. Sad I would like my $20 back. Beware!

Operation Chili Verde Breakfast!Great chow here, and ample selections to choose from....get here early, line can form of hungry customers. Staff very nice and quick to stop by to ensure all is well. Will come here again to try other selections..Come on down!

The best breakfast burrito hype is real!!! I'm from San Diego and we joke that you can't get a great burrito north of the I-8 freeway. 😂 HOWEVER, you can if you travel up to Buena Park's Athenian Burger! I got the machaca. Tons of flavor, nice meat to egg and potato ratio. And the tortilla...whoa! Usually it is my experience that the tortilla is an after thought...considered just to be the edible vessel holding the contents of your burrito, the tortilla can often be dry and heavy. Most of the time I leave a large portion of my tortilla uneaten. This tortilla, though, was very good!!! Thin, light, soft and the perfect chew. I tried to capture it in the photo to give you an idea of how great it was but you really just need to get in here and have one. We'll be back the next time we're in town! #burritosarelife 🌯

Got an omelette & pancakes. Omelette looked like scrambled eggs with stuff thrown inside. Pancakes were way to chewy. Service was mediocre. Place needs some major updating.

I just left this place and I had a problem with my burrito. Management came out and just told me to never come back again because they don’t even serve my kind. I was polite about it, but it is rude. I called bbb to make a complaint.

Athenian Burger has a great cheeseburger and chocolate malt milkshake!!The burger patties are not thin but also not so thick and can be made well done if requested. The burger comes with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. They have good complimentary pickles as well! I do wish that some of their lady cashiers were a bit friendlier and warmer and that is why they lose a star.

Food not so good. Too dry. Food signs too old . Zucchini look old and dry on the inside. And dribks not so good.

This is the best little mom amd pop restaurant you can go to in the area. Has not changed since the 70-80's neither has the owners or the food. You can't get a better authentic American-Mexican Family owned business in service or in Quality. Locals know where to go for the good stuff...youll find most of the down home locals here...because it's the spot...especially for breakfast burritos...or if you want a place that makes it how you want it.I personally love the unchanged environment too...the dishes are even my favorite...reminds me of the old restaurants in town everywhere when I was growing up...I hope they keep it like it is and never change...

Let's start with what's really important to most us, the food was just okay. The bacon cheeseburger was over cooked and the bacon was burnt. The restaurant seemed to have an AC unit put was not on during my visit. I asked for ranch dressing and I was asked to pay 65 cents. I believe that if a customer spends more then 20 bucks at a restaurant he or she should automatically be given those types of things. The only reason why I gave this place two stars is because the servers were very polite and attentive.

I only gave it 3 stars because of the food was somewhat good at first glance the place looked trashed and I was about to leave. But then I decided to stay and eat I ordered a burger and pancacakes the pancakes are good but the burger was the tricky one everything was fresh the Patty was big and we'll seasoned but the bun was stale and hard I was so mad at the fact that they killed that great burger with that hard stale bun but what can you expect from a place that looks like it came out of the walking dead I don't think I'm coming back until they changed some things

Worse experience. Went for a. Brito since they claim they’re the best around and sat there for a good 10 minutes while they were helping somebody else went to the bathroom came back went back in line and the lady just avoided me and started talking to the next guy in line ordering so obviously they didn’t want my business I won’t be back and the place is filthy

Athenian Burger sits walled off from a larger surrounding strip mall. The place was so busy the morning I went I had to park in the empty strip mall. Huge menu, was torn over getting a chorizo burrito or a pork chile verde burrito, got the chile verde. It was really good, a bit spicy as the sign indicated. Place was really busy, line moved quickly. Staff were really really nice and professional. Next time I am in the area I will certainly be coming here to try more stuff. Parking, entrance and seating was all accessible.

Ordered a party Carne Asada burrito... It was amazing!!! Very good taste, chips, salsa and chips

As we all know, nothing beats a home cooked meal by mom but this is as close as it gets! I get breakfast here at least once a week. Everyone is kind and positive, makes me feel right at home. Thank you for the hospitality and the delicious food 😋

1 year ago, I had a burrito and spent the rest of the day on the toilet. Tried to give a second chance; ordered breakfast, eggs and bacon was good. I was eating my pancakes when I needed more syrup on them, tried to squeeze out more syrup when there was some sort of pop, when I looked at my pancakes, there was a giant fly that came out of the syrup bottle. Poor guy drowned in there. Nice try, but didn't order flys with my pancakes.
